We
need to work together to inspire students at all ages within the
education system.
The BookEnd
program has been established through the donation of substantial time,
effort and resources by private individuals. The results of this
work
have provided our initial students and supporting schools with the
scholarships and opportunities that are presented on this website.
To keep this work
going into the future, we make an open
call for
businesses, companies
and any potential donors or sponsors with
an interest in education or
the environment to help match the support that
has been provided to date. The need for good
environmental work
and for
improving educational incentives is well known - please help us make
this happen.

"I commend the BookEnd program to you...
"The private individuals and professionals involved have
recognised that improving education is not just an issue for the Government to face, but that it
is a responsibility of our entire community. They have in turn donated their own time and
resources to develop this program and to show Tasmanian students of all ages that
high profile people and the business community care about their development and what
they can achieve.
"The challenge that these individuals have laid down is for
others to match the effort and resources that they have already put into the program,
whether as money, links, mentoring or support. You don't need to be famous or in the public
eye, you just need to care about the future of our young.
"...
See what you can do to help keep the momentum building."

Tasmania has the lowest retention rates into higher
education of any
State in Australia, while literacy and numeracy skills are well below
national standards. We need to
improve student interest and engagement in education. We need to build innovative, clever
thinking within our State. We need to
demonstrate viable and positive career options that make the most of
the
unique and world-class values that Tasmania has to offer. See our schools
page for how we are helping to do this.
As
outlined elsewhere on this site, help is
welcomed in the form of monetary donations,
as well as in
support through the donation of time, expertise and
building
partnerships. The more
support we receive, the more scholarships we can
offer. Even keeping up to date with what we're doing (join our mailing list) and
helping spread the message provides important assistance, as is help building
interstate and international links for the program.
Monetary
donations
are tax
deductible in Australia, and can be made via this downloadable form.
Options also exist for donations via
partnering organisations in North America. Please contact
us for more
information.
