"In Conversation with Cathy Henkel"

The BookEnd Trust is presenting two exclusive events to welcome award winning documentary maker Cathy Henkel as a new patron of the program.

Cathy is in Hobart from 1-8 April 2009 to undertake final sound-mixing on her latest documentary "The Burning Season", which is about solving the problems of habitat loss, pollution and climate change in the forests of Indonesia through the innovative work of a young Australian entrepreneur.

Whereas many documentaries focus on the problems, Cathy's work focuses on the way forward. Although an early 50 minute test version of the documentary had a limited release last year, a full and updated 90 minute version will be released theatrically in June/July 2009.

This award-winning documentary is already gaining significant acclaim around the globe (see the below links for more details). Narrated by Hugh Jackman, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, and receiving a prestigious invitation to screen at Robert De Niro's Tribeca Film Festival, it is not to be missed!

The BookEnd program is partnering with Screen Tasmania to present a special closed screening of a "working print" of the film to invited Tasmanian film-makers on April 8, before Cathy takes the final, completed version to Tribeca for its world premier in late April/early May.

"In Conversation with Cathy Henkel" will allow Tasmanian film-makers to see this work in progress and to talk directly with one of Australia's leading documentary-makers about her work in this field.

After Tribeca, Cathy will return to Tasmania for the Australian launch of the documentary at a gala event in Hobart on June 1 - the first public showing of the full documentary anywhere in Australia.

If you would like to register your interest in the launch,
